Biography of Amar Bose
Amar Bose, the founder of the Bose Corporation, was born on November 2, 1929, in a family of an Indian and an American. His childhood was spent in Philadelphia, where his family had moved for various reasons. Amar's father, a prominent politician and Indian revolutionary, was once imprisoned and later fled from Calcutta, pursued by the police. When Amar was thirteen, he began to show entrepreneurial skills and developed an interest in electronics. He later gathered a group of friends and started a small home business repairing radios and other electronics.
Education and Career
Amar graduated from Abington High School and went on to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1950, he earned an honorary bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Afterward, Amar spent approximately a year in the Netherlands, working in the laboratories of Philips Electronics NV, and the same amount of time in New Delhi, India.
After gaining experience abroad, Amar continued to further his education. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he became a professor and began conducting research in the field of acoustics. He achieved extraordinary success and received several patents for his inventions, which continue to hold great value for the Bose Corporation. In 1964, Amar Bose obtained a professorship and became an advisor to the University of Massachusetts. Currently, the Bose Corporation is one of the largest companies with over 10,000 employees, producing a wide range of products for home use, automotive industry, and radio. Additionally, the organization is involved in various acoustic research.
Legacy
Today, one of Amar's sons, Vanu Bose, continues his father's legacy as the CEO of Vanu, Inc. This company is also engaged in software development and radio technology, providing major network operators with the ability to manage GSM, CDMA, and iDEN base stations.
