On October 20, 2010, "The Today Show" aired footage from "Teen Mom" highlighting Amber's violent actions. Legal expert Dan Abrams stated that she could potentially face charges in Indiana, including child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and child neglect. The police conducted a search of Amber's apartment, but the specific findings were not disclosed. There have been allegations that she choked Gary, slapped him, and physically attacked him.
Child Protective Services and Legal Charges
On November 3, 2010, it was reported that Amber agreed to allow Child Protective Services to monitor her for six months following an incident where she attacked Gary. Despite doubts about her parental abilities, she was allowed to retain custody of Leah. On November 18, 2010, Amber was officially charged with three counts of physical assault against Gary during the taping of the reality show. MTV released a statement expressing their cooperation with all parties involved and hoping for a quick and fair resolution.
Legal Consequences
If found guilty, Amber could face up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. In an interview with "Us Weekly", she expressed her remorse and desire to become a better person.
