Biography of Amelia Vega
Amelia Vega, born in November 1984 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, is a model and the winner of the Miss Universe 2003 pageant. Her father is a doctor in New York, while her mother, who was also a former Miss Dominican Republic and a participant in the 1980 Miss World pageant, hailed from Santiago de los Caballeros.

Early Career and Miss Universe
From a young age, Amelia Vega began her journey in the modeling industry. In 2003, she won the title of Miss Dominican Republic, previously held by her mother. Subsequently, on June 3 of the same year, Amelia became the Miss Universe 2003 in Panama City, Panama. She also stood out for winning the national costume competition, a rare accomplishment for a pageant winner.

Advocacy and Philanthropy
After gaining worldwide recognition, Amelia Vega actively engaged in various social causes. She became an active member of organizations dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS, such as the Global Health Council, amfAR, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and God's Love We Deliver.
