Amélie Oudéa-Castéra: From Tennis Star to Minister of Sports
Tennis CareerAmélie Oudéa-Castéra embarked on her tennis journey in 1990. She excelled in junior competitions, becoming a three-time French youth champion, reaching the semifinals of the 1993 US Open junior tournament, and the semifinals of the 1994 Wimbledon junior tournament. Her highest world ranking was 251st in May 1995.
Retirement and Education
In 1996, Oudéa-Castéra retired from professional tennis and pursued further education. She graduated from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris and the École Supérieure des Sciences Économiques et Commerciales.
Business Career
Oudéa-Castéra's professional career began in 2004 as a financial auditor at the Court of Auditors. In 2008, she joined AXA as an assistant to the CEO, rising to the position of Marketing and Digital Director in 2011.
French Tennis Federation
On March 5, 2021, Oudéa-Castéra was appointed President of the French Tennis Federation.
Minister of Sports
On May 20, 2022, Oudéa-Castéra was appointed Minister of Sports, Olympic and Paralympic Games in the government of Élisabeth Borne.
Personal Life
At the age of 19, Oudéa-Castéra married renowned Brazilian tennis player Gustavo Kuerten. She is currently married to banker Frédéric Oudéa, CEO of Société Générale. They have three sons, aged 16, 14, and 11 as of May 2022.
