Early Life and Musical Beginnings

At the tender age of 8, Americo, a Chilean singer known by his pseudonym, unexpectedly replaced his brother Darwin at the Carnaval del Parque Lauca in Arica. This impromptu performance marked the beginning of his musical career. Subsequently, he participated in local and regional festivals. At the age of 9, he recorded his debut album, "Para mis padres."

Americo y la Nueva Alegria

As Americo's talent blossomed, he was discovered by the band Alegria, who sought a new vocalist. Together, they formed Americo y la Nueva Alegria and released 11 albums, including "El nuevo tropical" and "Somos parte de tu vida." Americo performed with the band until 2002, when he decided to pursue a solo career.

Solo Career and International Recognition

In 2003, Americo released his album "Por una mujer" and embarked on a European tour. His music resonated with Latin audiences, leading to performances in Switzerland, Norway, Germany, and Spain. In 2005, he established the band Americo y La Nueva Alegria. His single "El Embrujo" became a hit in 2008.

Breakthrough Success

Through his association with Meliton Vera, a renowned Chilean manager, Americo signed with Feria Music in 2008. His album "A Morir" quickly achieved gold status. In 2009, he toured Chile, culminating in a performance at the Teatro Caupolican in Santiago before President Michelle Bachelet and 5,000 attendees. His international career took off with a successful tour to Peru.

Americo confirmed his performance at the 2010 International Song Festival in Vina del Mar. His show was a triumph, earning him a Silver Torch, Golden Torch, and two Silver Seagulls. He has recorded duets with renowned artists such as Olga Tanon, Luis Jara, and Selena, and performed covers of popular songs.
