Archbishop Ambrosy (Sivers)
Early Life and Religious AffiliationArchbishop Ambrosy, born Alexei Borisovich Sivers on April 30, 1966, in Moscow, claims to have belonged to the Catacomb Church from birth. At the age of 19, he purportedly became a monk in the world.
Episcopal Consecration and Controversies
According to Sivers' account, he was consecrated to the episcopacy in 1994 by Bishop Amphilochy of Tomsk. However, the authenticity of this consecration has been questioned by some catacombists, as Bishop Amphilochy was reportedly elderly and possibly deceased at the time.
In 1994, the Restored Catacomb Church reinstated the abolished Diocese of Gotthia, and Sivers was elevated to Archbishop of Gotthia and all Northern Lands. His historical research relies heavily on the so-called "Novoselov's Archive," which has also been disputed as a forgery.
Political Activism and Controversies
Sivers has been involved in far-right political movements. In 1981, he allegedly participated in a neo-Nazi rally in Moscow. He is associated with the Oprichnik Brotherhood, which includes members of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Catacomb Church.
From 2001, Sivers served as the spiritual advisor of the Russian Orthodox National Socialist Movement (RPN2SD). In 2006, he became the spiritual advisor of the Party of Protection of the Russian Constitution "Rus'."
Controversial Actions
In 2007, Sivers conducted a prayer service in Red Square, where he read an "Incantatory Prayer" against "the demon VIL." He was detained shortly after for questioning.
On October 31, 2007, Sivers consecrated an icon of Adolf Hitler, further fueling controversy.
