Amy Palmiero-Winters, an American athlete without a leg, is a runner and participant in marathons and ultramarathons. Born in 1972 in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Amy showed exceptional talent in athletics from a young age. However, her sports career was almost derailed by a motorcycle accident in 1994, which resulted in the amputation of her left leg after three years and twenty-five surgeries.

Despite this setback, Amy did not lose her interest in life or her determination to win. She continued running, even tackling marathon distances. She has been named Athlete of the Year multiple times and recently worked as a model. Amy's inspiring story of resilience and perseverance has touched the hearts of many.

After a lengthy rehabilitation period, Amy began running again, this time with a prosthetic leg. Later that year, she completed the Chicago Marathon in 3:04, becoming the fastest woman and man in her category. In 2009, Amy ventured into ultramarathons, winning the Arizona Road Racers Run to the Future, covering a distance of 130.4 miles or approximately 210 kilometers.

Amy's achievements continued as she won the Western States Endurance Run in June 2010 and became the only leg amputee woman to finish the Badwater Ultramarathon in 2011. Additionally, she participated in triathlons and completed the three-day, 320-mile Ultraman triathlon in 2014.
