Personal Background
Ana Novaković Đurović, a Montenegrin political scientist and stateswoman, was born on December 20, 1985, in Titograd, the former capital of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which is now known as Podgorica. She graduated from the University of Montenegro's Faculty of Political Sciences with a degree in International Relations.
Civil Society Engagement
In 2007, Đurović began her career with the Center for Development of Non-Governmental Organizations (CRNVO) in Podgorica. From 2009 to 2021, she served as CRNVO's Executive Director. She also gained extensive experience in consulting and coaching for NGOs, government agencies, and businesses, specializing in project management, organizational development, and strategic planning.
Political Activism
In July 2021, Đurović joined the United Reform Action (URA) civil organization, which advocates for pro-European, left-liberal, and green values. She became URA's Political Director and a member of its presidency. During her tenure, she remained active in advocating for Montenegro's EU accession.
Government Service
On April 28, 2022, Ana Novaković Đurović was appointed Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning, and Urbanism in the government led by Prime Minister Dritan Abazović. Her appointment marked a significant step forward for women in Montenegrin politics.
Awards and Recognition
Đurović's contributions to Montenegrin society have been widely recognized. In 2012-2014, she served as Vice-President of the Council for Cooperation with NGOs. In 2018, she received the Union of Employers' Award as the Best Manager of a Civil Society Organization.
