Early Life and Education

Anatoly Ilchenko began his journey in the arts by studying at the St. Petersburg Academy of Theatre Arts. Under the guidance of Professor A.A. Shvedersky, he learned the secrets of acting. It was here that he also met the love of his life. He started dating his classmate Anna Kovalchuk in their first year. He recalls, "After enrolling, but before classes started, we were entrusted with renovating a classroom - this task brought us all together. Me, Sergey Gorobchenko, Sasha Florinskaya (who was Budanova at the time). One day, we started discussing our birthdays. I said mine was on June 14th, and Kovalchuk said, 'Oh, mine is on the 15th!' From that moment on, you could say our romance began."

After completing their third year, Anatoly and Anna rented a room and started living together. They were young, in love, and happy. After graduating from the academy in 1998, Ilchenko and Kovalchuk had to briefly part ways - Anna was invited to the Lensoviet Theater, while Anatoly decided to try his luck in Moscow. He joined the "Theater on the Southwest" and soon achieved some success. Everything was going well, except for the fact that his beloved was far away... Eventually, Anatoly made a difficult decision to leave the theater and return to his hometown of St. Petersburg. The chief director, Valery Belikovich, who didn't want to lose such a talented actor, tried to persuade him: "So what if you get married? Tomorrow you'll get divorced, and then what will you do? But the theater is forever. This is your home, you have great roles here!" However, Anatoly remained resolute. The year-long separation showed Anatoly Ilchenko and Anna Kovalchuk how much they meant to each other. Anatoly returned to St. Petersburg, they got married, and soon, their daughter Zlata was born. By that time, Anna Kovalchuk had become a famous film actress, thanks to her role as investigator Masha Shvetsova in the TV series "Tayny sledstviya." Anatoly's film career, on the other hand, was much less successful, with only a few small roles. Furthermore, after getting married, Anatoly decided to give up acting altogether. Why? After all, he could have been accepted into one of the theaters in St. Petersburg. Anatoly himself explains, "Anna was against it. Maybe she was afraid of the competition that often arises in actor couples. Or maybe she didn't want me to go on tour or have fans. Although I've never been a philandering husband..." Anatoly Ilchenko found work in his father-in-law's oil company. He admits that he doesn't regret it because he gained a tremendous amount of management experience, which later came in handy when he started his own company organizing celebrations and weddings. However, someone who has tasted the world of acting will always be drawn to it. Anatoly soon realized that he couldn't live without theater. He tried out for all the theaters in St. Petersburg and was accepted into the "Komedyanty" theater. He had to start from scratch, but over time, he rose to become one of the leading actors. His roles as Graciano in "The Merchant of Venice," Lebret in "Cyrano de Bergerac," Akakiy in Gogol's "The Overcoat," and others helped him win the love of the audience.

Personal Life

Anatoly Ilchenko and Anna Kovalchuk were together for over six years. At some point, both of them realized that their love had faded. "There was no betrayal on either side. It was just the end of a certain period of life," says Anna. Anatoly admits, "We didn't have a typical family. At some point, we realized that we had become like brother and sister..." He adds, "I loved that girl from the theater institute on Mokhovaya Street. Kind, gentle, sincere, and... very tender Anna Kovalchuk." According to Anatoly, she has become a completely different person now.

They ended their relationship quietly, peacefully, and to the surprise of those who considered them the perfect couple.
