Biography of Anatoliy Zlenko
Anatoliy Zlenko is a Ukrainian statesman who has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine twice in his career. He was born in Ukraine and received his education at the Kyiv Mining Technical School and the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where he studied as a translator and referent.
Diplomatic Career
Zlenko embarked on his diplomatic career in 1967, joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR. He started as an attache and later worked as the Second Secretary of the Department of International Organizations. From 1973 to 1979, he served as a staff member of the secretariat of UNESCO in Paris.
In 1979, Zlenko became an advisor in the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR. From 1979 to 1983, he held the position of the responsible secretary of the Ukrainian Commission for UNESCO. He then served as the Permanent Representative of the Ukrainian SSR to UNESCO from 1983 to 1987.
Minister of Foreign Affairs
In 1989, Zlenko was appointed as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, a position he held until 1990. He then served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine from 1990 to 1994. From 1994 to 1997, he represented Ukraine as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
From 1997 to 2000, Zlenko served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to France and Portugal and as the Permanent Representative to UNESCO. He once again became the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in October 2000, holding the position for three years. After that, he served as an Advisor to the President of Ukraine on special international issues from October 2003.

- Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR.
