Éva Kis Ambrus
Hungarian Politician and EconomistEducation and Early Career
Éva Kis Ambrus graduated from the University of Economic Sciences in Budapest with a degree in Economics and International Relations. She began her career in the financial sector, holding positions at Postabank (1998-2001) and the Hungarian National Bank (2001-2007).
Public Service
In 2002-2004, Kis Ambrus served as Chairman of the Board of the Hungarian National Bank's pension fund. She later became a member of the Supervisory Board of the Hungarian Foreign Trade Bank's pension fund (2004-2006). In 2005-2006, she coordinated the International Monetary Fund's financial stability indicator program in Hungary.
Regulatory Roles
From 2007-2010, Kis Ambrus served as a member of the Hungarian Competition Authority's Competition Council. She then became Executive Director of Magyar Közlöny Lap- és Könyvkiadó (2010-2011), which publishes the government newspaper.
National Bank and Government Appointments
Kis Ambrus was elected to the Hungarian National Bank's Monetary Committee in 2011. In 2016, she became State Secretary for Postal and National Financial Services in the third Orbán cabinet. She was appointed Minister without Portfolio for the Management of National Assets in 2018 in the fourth Orbán cabinet.
Languages and Personal Life
Kis Ambrus is fluent in English, Russian, and Italian. She is married to Béla Bartfai, the head of the Hungarian Association for the Storage of Hydrocarbons.
