Andrea Donna de Matteo, born on January 19, 1972, is an American actress best known for her role as Adriana La Cerva in the HBO television series "The Sopranos" and as Gina, Joey Tribbiani's sister in the NBC comedy series "Joey". She recently played the role of Wendy Case in the FX drama "Sons of Anarchy".
Early Life and Career
De Matteo grew up in Queens, New York. At the age of ten, her interest in acting was sparked after watching the legendary musical "Cats" by Andrew Lloyd Webber. During the performance, one of the actors pulled her onto the stage, and she was captivated by the lights and the atmosphere. From that moment, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in acting.
De Matteo's mother was a screenwriter, so there were already connections to the entertainment industry in her family. After finishing high school, she attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, initially planning to become a director. However, she later changed her priorities and decided to pursue acting.
Rise to Fame
In 1996, de Matteo made her film debut in the romantic comedy "The "M" Word", which was not successful at the box office. However, her talent did not go unnoticed, and her career started to gain momentum. She then landed a small role in the television series "The Sopranos". Currently, the actress resides in New York and is engaged to country singer Shooter Jennings, with whom she has one child.
