Andrea Dossena: Early Career and Italy Debut

Andrea Dossena is an Italian footballer who played as a left-back. He began his professional career at Verona, where he spent four seasons before joining Udinese in 2005. After a loan spell at Treviso, Dossena became a regular for Udinese from the 2006-07 season onwards. His impressive performances earned him a contract extension in October 2007 and a debut for the Italian national team in the same month.

Liverpool and Napoli

Rumors of Liverpool's interest in Dossena began circulating in late May 2008, and the club officially announced his signing on July 4. Dossena's first season at Liverpool was underwhelming, as he struggled to displace Fabio Aurelio and Emiliano Insua in the starting lineup. In June 2009, he expressed a desire to return to Italy and was linked with Juventus and Napoli.

Loan to Napoli and Return to England

Dossena failed to break into the Liverpool first team in the first half of the 2009-10 season, due to both injuries and the good form of Insua. In January 2010, he joined Napoli on loan. The move was made permanent that summer, and Dossena played for Napoli for two more seasons before returning to England with Sunderland in 2012.

Later Career

Dossena spent three seasons at Sunderland, making over 100 appearances. He then had a brief spell at Palermo before retiring from professional football in 2017.
