Biography of Andreas Deris
Andreas "Andi" Deris is a rock performer and the vocalist of the German power metal band "Helloween" since 1994. He has been a successful replacement for Michael Kiske, not only as a vocalist but also as a superb songwriter. Deris is credited with hits such as "Forever and one," "Before the war," "Time," "Immortal," "If I could fly," "Don't stop being crazy," "Mrs. God," and others. As a charismatic frontman, he helped the band regain the lost glory of the early 90s.
Early Life and Career
Andreas Deris was born on August 18, 1964, in Karlsruhe, Germany. He began singing in his own band called "Paranoid" in 1979, followed by "Nameless" and other groups. In the early 80s, he formed the band "Kymera." In 1987, he organized his first successful group, "Pink Cream 69," which became one of the best newcomers the following year. After releasing three albums, Deris left "Pink Cream 69" in 1994 due to musical disagreements with his bandmates.
Joining "Helloween"
Upon leaving "Pink Cream 69," Andreas Deris received an invitation from Michael Weikath to join his band "Helloween." Deris became the lead vocalist alongside Michael Weikath, and they became the main composers of the group. The first album with Deris on vocals, "Master of the rings" (1994), marked the beginning of the band's third chapter in their history. This album introduced a new stylistic direction for "Helloween" and revitalized the band. In 1996, their second album with Deris, "The time of the oath," was released and became a huge success, surpassing the sales of their previous albums.
Solo Career
In 1997, Andreas Deris released his debut solo album, "Come in from the rain." His old friend Ralph Mason played the drums and provided backing vocals for the album. In late 1999, Deris released his second solo album, "Done by mirrors," which debuted in Japan and later in Europe.
