Biography of Andreas Wolf

Andreas Wolf is a German footballer and defender. He is of Volga German descent. His father, Andrei, was a footballer who played in the Second Division, and his mother, Erna, was a German language teacher. In 1990, they moved to Nuremberg, Germany, and later settled in Ansbach.

In 1997, while playing for the Bavarian youth team, Wolf caught the attention of Nuremberg, and he joined the club. He made his debut in an official match on March 23, 2002, at the Berlin Olympic Stadium, when his Nuremberg team lost 2-0 to Hertha. He went on to become one of the key players for the club, predominantly playing as a center-back and also serving as the team captain.

In 2008, Wolf suffered a cruciate ligament injury, which kept him out of action for nine months. In 2011, he was in talks with Zenit Saint Petersburg, but was eventually bought by Werder Bremen, and later moved to Monaco after six months.

Interest from the Russian National Team

In February 2008, there were reports in the media about the Russian national team's head coach, Guus Hiddink, expressing interest in Wolf. The defense was considered the team's weakest line, and inviting the German player was seen as a way to improve it for the upcoming Euro 2008 tournament. However, Wolf did not receive an invitation from either the Russian or German national team, despite expressing his desire to play in the tournament.

Wolf mainly communicates with his parents in Russian. He is married to Sandra, an Italian native, and they have a daughter.
