Andrew Bynum, an American professional basketball player, currently plays as a free agent.
Early Life
Bynum was born in Plainsboro, New Jersey, to Ernest Bynum and Janet McCoy, who divorced when he was a year old. He spent his summers with his father in North Carolina. Bynum has an older brother, Corey.
NBA Career
Bynum was selected 10th overall in the 2005 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played until 2012. He was a key member of the Lakers' championship team in the 2011-12 season.
In a four-team trade involving Dwight Howard in 2012, Bynum was sent to the Philadelphia 76ers. He later signed a 2-year, $24 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013.
Bynum holds the distinction of being one of only two players (along with Kevin Love) to record 30 or more rebounds in an NBA game in the 21st century. In a game against the San Antonio Spurs in 2012, Bynum recorded 30 rebounds in just 36 minutes.
