Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Andrew W.K. was born Andrew Wilkes-Krier in Orange County, California. He began his musical journey at a young age, studying classical piano at a music school.

In his teenage years, Andrew's interest shifted to rock music. He transitioned to drums and played in numerous punk bands. His parents were supportive of his musical pursuits.

Solo Career and Record Deal

At the age of 17, Andrew realized his desire to step out from behind the drums and pursue a solo career. Three years later, he began performing at clubs, accompanied by his old synthesizer and a CD player for instrumental backing.

Andrew's live performances caught the attention of representatives from a small record label. They helped him record and release a limited edition of his songs.

Rise to Prominence

Following the release, Andrew's career took off. He initially opened for Foo Fighters and soon headlined his own shows. In late 2001, he released his debut album, "I Get Wet."

Musical Philosophy

Andrew's music is characterized by its raw emotional expression. He believes in embracing all emotions, from love to hate, and not being afraid to let them out.
