Andrey Antontsev: A Musical Polymath

Andrey Antontsev, renowned composer, music producer, and electronic musician, has made an indelible mark on the global music scene.

Early Beginnings: God's Delusion and Alexandroid

In the late 1990s, Antontsev's passion for electronic industrial music led him to form the band God's Delusion with artist Ruslan Morozov and Alexander Matrosov. Two cassette albums marked this period.

Moving to St. Petersburg, Antontsev and Matrosov founded Alexandroid, which gained critical acclaim in Russia and internationally. In 2004, their album earned the Grand Prix at the Radio France Internationale Electronic Music Award.

Solo Projects and International Recognition: idi0ts and OID

Antontsev's solo project, idi0ts, emerged in 2010 with an EP released on London's Lo Recordings that charted on European indie music charts. The same year, he collaborated with Ilya Lagutenko (of Mumiy Troll) on the electronic duo Keta, whose debut album was critically hailed as one of the best Russian releases of 2012.

Adopting the pseudonym OID, Antontsev has released over ten solo records on European labels. His track "33 33 33" (2016) sold out 900 copies within a week on German label Pampa. His latest album, "22:22" (2017), was released on a limited-edition vinyl by Moscow label Sealt.

Collaboration and Soundtrack Work

Antontsev's remixes have adorned the works of notable Russian artists, including Kolibri, Nayk Borzov, Mumiy Troll, and others. He has collaborated internationally with artists such as dOP, Pilocka Krach, and Dj Koze.

His cinematic ventures include soundtracks for the animated film "Dunno and Barrabass," the feature film "Entuziastov Highway," and documentaries like "The Sobchak Case" and "I Am Gagarin." In 2017, he presented his own soundtrack for Dziga Vertov's iconic silent film "The Man with a Movie Camera."

Theatre and Advertising Collaborations

Beyond film, Antontsev has composed music for theatre productions, including "Mahamaya Electronic Devices" at Praktika Theatre and "Steelworkers" at Truda Theatre. His music has also graced over 200 commercials for companies like MTS, Audi, and Yandex, earning him awards for his sound design and musical arrangements.

Cultural Partnerships and Installations

Antontsev's music has intertwined with the art world, with collaborations with artists like Mikhail Rozanov and Mikelis Fishers. He has also worked with cultural institutions such as the Triumph Gallery, the State Tretyakov Gallery, and the Moscow Planetarium. His compositions have accompanied fashion shows by designers like Alena Akhmadullina and Tatiana Mamedova.
