- Joined Moscow Provincial Zemstvo to research cottage industries
- Investigated cottage industries and cooperatives in Europe
1879:

- Appointed to the Chair of Political Economy and Financial Law at the Demidov Law Lyceum in Yaroslavl

- Defended his master's thesis "Industrial Associations in France and Germany" at Saint Petersburg University

1881:

- Defended his doctoral thesis "Cooperatives in Russia" at Saint Petersburg University

1888:

- Moved to Saint Petersburg

- Became a private lecturer at Saint Petersburg University, teaching political economy

- Held the Chair of Police Law at the Alexander Lyceum
