Early Life and Education

Andriy Reva was born on July 7, 1966, in Bohodukhiv, Ukraine. In 1987, he graduated from the Y. V. Andropov Leningrad Higher Military-Political Air Defense School with a degree in military-political education and history and social studies teaching. In 2004, he earned a law degree from the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management.

Military and Educational Career

From August 1983 to September 1989, Reva served in the military. After graduating, he worked as a history teacher at School No. 27 in Vinnytsia from February 1995 to December 1998.

Political Career

Reva's political career began in January 1995 when he became head of the Vinnytsia City Trade Union of Education and Science. He later served as deputy mayor of Vinnytsia for executive bodies (1998-1999) and deputy head of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration (1999). In June 2000, he became head of the Social Protection Department of the Zamostian district in Vinnytsia, a position he held until December 2005.

From December 2005 to April 15, 2016, Reva was deputy mayor of Vinnytsia responsible for healthcare and social services. On April 15, 2016, he was appointed Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine.

Controversies

During his tenure, Reva made controversial statements. In 2017, he claimed that Ukrainians lived worse than Westerners because of their different eating habits and spending patterns. In 2019, he made comments about pensioners in the Donbas region, suggesting that those who supported Ukrainian sovereignty should move elsewhere.

Personal Life

Andriy Reva is married and has a daughter. He is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian and can read and translate English with a dictionary's aid.
