Andriy Verevskyi: Ukrainian Entrepreneur and Politician

Early Life and Education

Andriy Verevskyi was born on July 25, 1974, in Poltava, Ukraine. He initially studied at the Poltava Engineering and Construction Institute (now Poltava National Technical Yuriy Kondratyuk University) for a year before completing a degree in Oxford College in 2000. In 2001, he graduated from the National Agrarian University with a bachelor's degree in agronomy.

Business Career

In 1995, Verevskyi founded a small company specializing in the export of Ukrainian grain. This venture evolved into Kernel Group, a leading agricultural company in Ukraine. Since 2007, Verevskyi has been the chairman of the board and majority shareholder of Kernel Holding S.A., which operates in the production, processing, storage, transportation, and export of agricultural products. Today, Kernel is the largest Ukrainian supplier of grains, sunflower oil (35% market share in Ukraine), and other food products in Ukraine and Russia. It is also the leading supplier of bottled vegetable oil in Ukraine, a major provider of grain storage services to farmers, and an exporter of grain, oil, and other food products through Black Sea ports.

Political Career

From 2002 to 2006, Verevskyi served as a member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) during the 4th convocation. He joined the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc in 2005 and remained a member until 2007. After being re-elected in 2006, he continued to represent the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc in the 5th convocation. In 2007, he was elected as a member of the 6th convocation, still representing the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc. In June 2010, Verevskyi joined a coalition formed by the Party of Regions, Lytvyn Bloc, and Communist Party, becoming a member of the Party of Regions faction in October 2010. Despite being re-elected in 2012, Verevskyi was stripped of his parliamentary seat in March 2013 due to his concurrent role as head of a commercial organization. However, rumors persist that he voluntarily resigned his mandate.
