Andy Samberg Biography
Andy Samberg is an American actor, comedian, rapper, and author. He is best known as a member of the group "The Lonely Island" and for his work on "Saturday Night Live" from 2005 to 2012.

Early Life
David Andrew "Andy" Samberg was born in 1978 in Mill Valley, California. His father, Joe Samberg, was a photographer, and his mother, Margi Marrow, was a teacher. He grew up in a Jewish family, with two sisters named Johanna and Darrow. Despite his religious background, Samberg does not consider himself to be particularly religious.

Early Career
From a young age, Samberg had a desire to perform in front of an audience, much to the dismay of his school teachers who wanted him to focus on his studies. He developed a particular interest in comedy and aspired to become a comedian himself. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, and later studied at the New York University's film school.

The Lonely Island and Saturday Night Live
Even before making a name for himself on screen, Samberg joined the musical group "The Lonely Island," a comedic hip-hop trio. In 2005, the group began writing material for "Saturday Night Live," and their first album, titled "Incredibad," was released in 2009. By 2005, Samberg had already built up a filmography, primarily appearing in short films. In September 2005, "The Lonely Island" officially announced that Samberg would join "Saturday Night Live" as a special guest.

Rise to Fame
On December 17, 2005, Samberg and Chris Parnell starred in an episode of "Saturday Night Live" called "Lazy Sunday," in which they performed a funny nerdcore hip-hop song. The episode quickly became an internet meme, propelling Samberg to newfound popularity. Shortly after, he gained further recognition for his collaboration with Justin Timberlake on the song "Dick in a Box," which earned the duo a Creative Arts Emmy. Another successful song, "Jizz in My Pants," garnered over 100 million views on YouTube. The song "I'm on a Boat," featuring T-Pain, also became a viral hit with nearly 60 million views on YouTube and received a Grammy nomination. In 2009, Samberg hosted the MTV Movie Awards.

Later Career
In January 2011, "The Lonely Island" released a song called "The Creep," featuring Nicki Minaj, as part of their second album. On June 1, 2012, Samberg's publicist announced that he would be leaving "Saturday Night Live" after seven years on the show. Since then, Samberg has appeared in various films, including "Hot Rod," "Space Chimps," "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist," "I Love You, Man," "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," "Friends with Benefits," "What's Your Number?" and many others, mostly in comedic roles.
