Early Life and Career

Born in Greece, Apostolos Afendioulis pursued his passion for football as a striker. After playing at the youth level, he joined the "Kastoria" club and helped them earn promotion to the Beta Ethniki (Greek Second Division) during his first season.

Rise to Prominence

In the 1963/64 campaign, Afendioulis emerged as a prolific scorer, bagging 23 goals to become the top scorer for both his team and the Second Division. His impressive performances caught the attention of PAOK, a club in the top-flight Greek Super League, where he transferred in 1965.

Career at PAOK and Return to Kastoria

Afendioulis spent five years at PAOK, featuring in two seasons of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. In 1970, he returned to "Kastoria," where he repeated his success as a league top scorer for two consecutive seasons. Notably, he played a crucial role in Kastoria's promotion to the Greek Super League.

Later Career and Retirement

Afendioulis continued his career with Kastoria until the end of the 1975/76 season, retiring at the age of 34. During this time, he also had a brief loan spell with the Toronto Homer club in Canada.

Passing

Apostolos Afendioulis passed away on April 6, 2024, at the age of 82. He left an enduring legacy as a talented striker who excelled in both the Greek Super League and Beta Ethniki.
