Konstantinos Basinas: Greek Football Maestro

Early Career in Greece

Konstantinos Basinas, a legendary Greek footballer, began his career with Panathinaikos in his home country. He spent a decade with the club, capturing two Greek Super League titles and a Greek Cup triumph. His exceptional performances drew attention from various European clubs.

Spanish Sojourn at Mallorca

In 2006, Basinas crossed the Mediterranean to join Spanish club RCD Mallorca. He enjoyed successful first and second seasons with the team, but decided against extending his contract when it expired.

Return to Greece and Journey to England

In 2008, Basinas returned to Greece to represent AEK Athens, inheriting the iconic number 14 jersey. However, the club's struggles prompted him to move to Portsmouth in England later that year.

Portsmouth Adventure

Under manager Tony Adams, Basinas was a regular starter for Portsmouth. However, his playing time diminished after a managerial change. Under Abraham Grant, he regained his prominence and played a pivotal role in Portsmouth's run to the FA Cup final, which they eventually lost to Chelsea.

Career Twilight in France

Despite Portsmouth's relegation from the Premier League, Basinas remained a valued asset. He joined French club Arles-Avignon, where he saw out the final years of his playing career.
