Early Life and Modeling Career
Angela Michelle Harmon was born on August 10, 1972, in Dallas, Texas. Her parents' past as models paved the way for her own modeling aspirations. From a young age, she knew she was destined for fame. With her striking brown eyes and brunette hair, her Greek, Irish, and Native American heritage hinted at her future stardom.
At the age of 15, Harmon surpassed 63,000 other teenagers to win the "Seventeen" magazine cover model contest. This victory earned her a coveted prize: a car. After graduating high school, Harmon moved to New York City in 1990 and quickly caught the attention of modeling agencies. Within a few years, she became an in-demand model, gracing the covers of numerous fashion magazines in the United States and Europe, including "Vogue," "Bazaar," "Cosmopolitan," and "GQ." On the runway, she showcased designs by Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Isaac Mizrahi, and Calvin Klein.
Transition to Acting
Despite her success in modeling, Harmon yearned for the fulfillment of her childhood dream. In New York and Los Angeles, she took acting classes. In 1995, a chance meeting on a plane with David Hasselhoff led to her casting as Ryan McBride in "Baywatch Nights." That same year, she made an appearance in an episode of the series "Renegade."
Harmon's performance in John Duigan's 1997 film "Lawn Dogs" earned her critical acclaim. The film garnered attention at the Toronto and Sundance film festivals. She later landed the role of Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael in the long-running television series "Law & Order."
Television and Film Roles
In addition to "Law & Order," Harmon appeared in various projects, including television shows and feature films. Her other notable television credits include "Working Girl" and "Inconceivable." In 2003, she portrayed Frankie Muniz's mother in "Agent Cody Banks."
Family Life and Hiatus
Harmon welcomed her first daughter in 2003 and her second in 2005. She took a hiatus from acting to focus on her family. However, she eventually returned to the screen as Lieutenant Commander Faith Coleman in "NCIS."
Personal Life
Angie Harmon has been married twice. Her first marriage to actor Jason Sehorn ended in divorce. She later married former football player Jason Clark in 2008.
