Early Life and EducationValene Maharaj was born on April 25, 1986, in Gasparillo, Trinidad and Tobago. She grew up in St. Margaret, Claxton Bay, and pursued an associate degree in Business Administration after completing secondary school. She was also accepted to the American Inter-Continental University in Florida to study Fashion, Art, and Marketing. However, she postponed her studies after winning Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2007.
Modeling Career
Maharaj's modeling career began at age 16 after she won the Caribbean Model Search contest. This led to her participation in Jamaica's Fashion Week in 2003. She subsequently modeled for Mickles and various local designers, including Peter Elias.
Pageant Success
On March 28, 2006, Maharaj placed as first runner-up in the Miss Trinidad and Tobago pageant. She re-entered the competition the following year and triumphed over six other contestants to become Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2007. At the Miss World 2007 pageant in China, she placed as third runner-up.
Inspiration and Passions
Maharaj is an avid fan of Bollywood films, particularly those starring Aishwarya Rai. She also admires Giselle La Ronde, the first Miss World, and Michelle Khan, Miss Trinidad and Tobago 1995.
