Biography of Anna Duskova

Anna Duskova is a Czech figure skater who was born in December 1999 near Prague. She began figure skating from a young age and has participated in both singles and pairs skating, often partnering with Martin Bidar, whose family is full of figure skaters.

In the fall of 2012, Anna made her international debut as a novice skater in both singles and pairs. The following fall, she debuted in the junior category. In March 2014, Anna competed in the Junior World Championships in Belarus but did not perform as well as she had hoped.

In the next season, Anna continued to compete in both singles and pairs. She participated in both disciplines at the Junior Grand Prix stages, but failed to qualify for the final. Recognizing the challenges of competing as a singles skater due to strong competition, Anna decided to focus on pairs skating.

At the Junior World Championships in Estonia, the pair placed eighth, which prevented them from qualifying for the Winter Youth Olympic Games. In the fall of 2015, Anna competed in both singles and pairs again. While she only competed in singles to earn ranking points, she and her partner attempted to qualify for the Winter Youth Olympic Games in pairs. They successfully made it to the Games and reached the Junior Grand Prix Final, where they won the silver medal in Barcelona.

In the Czech Championships, pairs competitions were not held, so Anna competed in singles and won the bronze medal. She was selected as a reserve for the continental and world championships. In the middle of February 2016, Anna and her partner won the silver medal in the Winter Youth Olympic Games. They also joined a mixed team for team competitions, along with Ukrainian skater Ivan Shmuratko, Latvian skater Diana Nikitina, and the French dance pair Julia Wagret and Mathieu Couyras, earning a second silver medal.

In mid-March, the pair became champions at the Junior World Championships in Debrecen, surpassing all of their previous achievements. The new pre-Olympic season started for the pair in August 2016 at the Junior Grand Prix stage in Ostrava, where they confirmed their skill and finished in first place. The following week, Anna competed as a singles skater at the Lombardia Trophy in Bergamo, but her performance was not the best.

In October, the Czech pair finished second at the Junior Grand Prix in Dresden, securing their spot in the Junior Grand Prix Final. In mid-October, they made their senior-level debut at the Nice Cup in Nice, where they immediately finished in first place. In early December, Anna and her partner confidently secured second place at the Junior Grand Prix Final in Marseille, just like the previous year.

In late January, the Czech skaters made their debut at the European Championships in Ostrava, finishing in seventh place and improving upon their previous achievements. In late March, they competed at the World Championships in Helsinki, making a successful debut. However, they did not qualify for the Olympic Games at this stage.

In late September, the Czech pair participated in the Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, where they finished in ninth place and secured a spot for their country in the Winter Olympic Games. However, a month later, Anna suffered a serious injury during training, and it was decided that she would undergo surgery. As a result, the athletes had to miss not only the Grand Prix stages but also the national and European championships.
