Biography of Anna Shevchenko
Anna Shevchenko is a Kazakhstani skier who started her career in the ski section at the age of ten. In 2013, she achieved the requirements to become a Master of Sports. Her coach is Alexander Kursakov, and she represents the Pavlodar region.
Junior and Youth Championships
Shevchenko has participated in three Junior and two Youth World Championships. In FIS stages, she has won two gold medals, one in Kantiolahti (30.11.2014, 5 km classic style) and another in Alma-Ata (24.12.2016, pursuit race). She has also won two silver and one bronze medals in these competitions.
National Championships
In the 2013 Belarusian Championship, Shevchenko won a bronze medal in the sprint. In the 2014 Kazakhstan Championship, she achieved gold in the 5 km pursuit race and bronze in the mass start.
World Championships
At the 2013 World Championship, Shevchenko ranked 36th in the 30 km classic style, 59th in the skiathlon, 65th in the sprint, and her team finished 15th in the relay. She also participated in the 2015 World Championship, where she finished 41st in the mass start, 47th in the sprint, and 46th in the skiathlon.
World Cup
Shevchenko made her World Cup debut in the 2012/13 season. In the relay race on November 25, 2012, in Ellivare, Sweden, the Kazakhstani team finished 18th. Shevchenko's next participation in the World Cup took place in the 2016/17 season. In November 2016, she ranked 68th in the sprint, 48th in the pursuit race, and 40th in the 10 km classic style in Ruka, Finland. In early December, she finished 44th in the 5 km freestyle race and 69th in the sprint in Lillehammer, Norway. On December 10, she ranked 43rd in the 15 km classic style race in Davos, Switzerland, and the following day, 60th in the sprint. On December 17, in La Clusaz, France, she finished 32nd in the mass start, and on December 18, in the 4x5 km relay, the Kazakhstani team ranked 10th.
Universiade
At the 2017 Universiade in Almaty, Anna Shevchenko won five medals: a gold in the mixed competition (team sprint freestyle), silver in the 3x5 km relay, and three individual bronzes in the 5 km freestyle, 10 km pursuit freestyle, and 15 km classic mass start. For her outstanding performance at the Universiade, the governor of the Pavlodar region, Bulat Bakauov, presented Shevchenko with the keys to a two-room apartment.
Education
Shevchenko has completed her studies at the Innovative Eurasian University, majoring in Physical Education and Sports. In 2016, she entered the master's program at the Academy of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
