Anna-Marie Johnson is an American actress, best known for her role as school teacher Althea Tibbs in the television drama series "In the Heat of the Night" on CBS and NBC. She was born in Los Angeles, California and had a dream of making it on television since childhood. Her dream came true and she has been regularly appearing in TV movies and series.

Early Career
Johnson's first role was at the age of twenty-four, playing Eileen Lewis in the NBC comedy series "Double Trouble". In the same year, she also made her debut in a TV movie called "His Mistress". She then appeared in the 1985 series "What's Happening Now!!" as Nadine Hudson Thomas. However, her most famous role came in the series "In the Heat of the Night" as Althea Tibbs.

Later Career
In 1988, Johnson appeared in her second TV movie "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka", where she had the opportunity to work under the direction of the Wayans brothers. In 1993, she joined the sketch comedy group "In Living Color" on Fox Network. She also had a role as Alicia Barnett in one season of the series "Melrose Place".
