Anthony Mackie was born on September 23, 1979, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts before enrolling in the drama program at the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem in the mid-1990s. He later graduated from the Juilliard School.

Career
