Early Career and Junior Success
Anton Sergeyevich Kokorin, born on April 5, 1987, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, embarked on his professional running career as a middle-distance runner. In 2006, he made his national and international debut, participating in the World Junior Championships in Athletics in Beijing. Kokorin's breakout performance came in the 4x400-meter relay, where he secured second place.
Domestic and Youth Achievements
Kokorin's success continued domestically. In 2007, he finished sixth at the Russian Championships and first in the 4x400-meter relay at the European Junior Championships in Hungary. He also triumphed at the Russian Youth Championships and placed eighth at the Russian Indoor Championships.
International Breakthrough and Olympic Debut
In 2008, Kokorin made his mark on the international stage, finishing sixth at the World Athletics Final in Zurich. He went on to claim third place at the Russian Athletics Championships and ninth at the Znamensky Brothers Memorial. The same year, he represented Russia at the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he competed in the 4x400-meter relay and achieved a third-place finish.
Continued Success and Personal Bests
Following his Olympic debut, Kokorin continued to excel in competitions. He earned first place at the Governor's Cup and Christmas Races. His career bests include 33.84 seconds in the 300-meter distance and 45.78 seconds in the 400-meter distance. Currently, Kokorin represents the Russian Army Club and resides in Tosno, Leningrad Oblast. He is coached by V. Mikhailov and primarily competes in the 400-meter distance.
