Biography of Aram Kocharyan

Aram Vladimirovich Kocharyan (Armenian: Արամ Վլադիմիրովիչ Կոչարյան, born November 14, 1952, in Vanadzor) is an Armenian statesman. He was awarded the Certificate of the Prime Minister in 2002.

Early Life and Education

Kocharyan attended the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute named after H. Abovyan from 1975 to 1979. During his studies, he also worked as a laborer in the Kirovakan Construction and Repair Trust No. 3 from 1968 to 1975. Additionally, he served in the Soviet Army from 1972 to 1974.

Career

After completing his education, Kocharyan worked as a history and social studies teacher at the Kirovakan Construction Technical College from 1979 to 1985. He then served as an instructor and head of the department at the Gugark Regional Council of the Communist Party of Armenia (CPA) from 1985 to 1991. From 1991 to 1996, he held the position of head of the department of public education at the Gugark Regional Council of the CPA.

In 1996, Kocharyan worked as the deputy CEO of the Vanadzor Production Association "Khatz." From 1997 to 2005, he served as the head of the Education Department of the Lori Municipality, as well as the deputy governor of Lori Province from 1999 to 2005. In 2005, he became the deputy chairman of the State Social Security Fund of Armenia.

Since December 2006, Kocharyan has been the governor of Lori Province, and since January 2007, he has been the chairman of the Council of Lori Regional Organization. He has been a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) since 1998.
