Biography of Gagik Tsarukyan
Gagik Kolyaevich Tsarukyan, also known as "Dodi Gago," was born on November 25, 1956 in the village of Arinj, Abovian district. He is an Armenian entrepreneur and the leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" party.
Early Life and Education
From 1984 to 1989, Tsarukyan studied at the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture. During this time, he excelled in arm wrestling and became a world champion in 1996 and European champion in 1998. He was also appointed as the Vice President of the Armenian National Olympic Committee. In recognition of his achievements, Tsarukyan was awarded the Order of "Saint Gregory the Illuminator" in 2002 and the "Movses Khorenatsi" medal in 2003.
Business Career
In 1989, Tsarukyan worked as the chief engineer at the greenhouse complex of the Yerevan Zootechnical and Veterinary Institute. From 1990 to 1992, he served as the executive director of the company "Armenia." In 1992, Tsarukyan established a livestock complex and a dairy production enterprise in the village of Arinj. He then went on to become the chairman of the diversified conglomerate "Multi Group" in 1995.
Tsarukyan expanded his business interests by acquiring various companies. He took over the Abovian Brewery "Kotayk" in 1996-1997 and acquired the Abovian Instrumentation Plant and Yerevan Pharmaceutical Company in 1997. He also established a chain of furniture stores called "MEK" in 1997-1998. From 1998 to 1999, Tsarukyan owned the Aviaservice airline company and the Aviapitaniye catering company at Zvartnots Airport. He further expanded his business empire by setting up a network of gas stations called "Multi Leon" from 1999 to 2002. In 2002-2003, Tsarukyan ventured into the stone processing industry with the company "Multi Stone" and also acquired the Ararat Brandy, Wine, and Vodka Factory. Since 2003, he has owned the Ararat Cement Plant.
Political Career
In addition to his business ventures, Tsarukyan entered politics and became a member of parliament from 2003 to 2007. During his time in parliament, he served as a member of the Standing Committee on Defense, National Security, and Internal Affairs. Tsarukyan was re-elected as a parliament member on May 12, 2007, and became the chairman of the "Prosperous Armenia" party.
Gagik Tsarukyan remains an influential figure in Armenia, both in the business and political spheres, and continues to lead the "Prosperous Armenia" party.
