Biography of Aram Voskanyan
Aram Voskanyan is an Armenian football player, forward, and coach. He began his professional career in the capital region, playing for "Malatia," a modest club in the Soviet-era Zone 2 of the second league. With "Malatia," Voskanyan entered the independent Armenian championship, where the team competed in the newly-formed Premier League under the guidance of legendary coach Eduard Markarov. Markarov became Voskanyan's first coach in top-tier football. After playing two seasons, the club was relegated to the first league, and Aram was forced to find a new team. Many clubs expressed interest in signing him, and he eventually joined the "Banants" team from Abovyan. Demonstrating his value in every game, Voskanyan achieved an almost 100% success rate. The following season, he donned the jersey of the Armenian football powerhouse, "Ararat," for which he played for four seasons. In 1999, he was acquired by the St. Petersburg-based "Lokomotiv," which was playing in the first division at the time. After "Loko" found itself in the relegation zone, Voskanyan transferred to the Kaliningrad-based "Baltika." However, the team also faced the possibility of relegation. In 2003, he returned to Armenia and signed a contract with "Mika" for one season. The following season, Aram played in the Kazakh championship for the Petropavlovsk football club "Esil-Bogatyr." During his five seasons with Esil, Voskanyan appeared in 130 matches and scored 37 goals against opponents. On October 1, 2008, "Mika" from Ashtarak signed a contract with Voskanyan. In 2009, he scored 10 goals, the second-highest record in the club. After playing two seasons for the Ashtarak club, in March 2010, he signed a contract with the Tashkent-based "Lokomotiv," and in his very first game, he scored a brace as a substitute in the second half. Voskanyan scored two goals in the first round of the 2010 Uzbekistan championship. The next match took place in the Uzbekistan Cup, where "Lokomotiv" faced "Dynamo-Gallakor." The final score of the match was 7-0 in favor of the railwaymen, with Voskanyan recording a hat-trick. In the summer transfer window, he returned to "Mika," which needed reinforcements ahead of the Europa League. In the middle of the 2011 season, during coaching changes in the club, Voskanyan decided to end his playing career and joined the club's coaching staff. He played 11 matches for the national team. He was called up to the national team during his time at the Kazakh club. His first match was on November 17, 2004, in a World Cup qualifying match against the Romanian national team, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
