Agalarov began building his empire in 1989 and opened the first "Crocus Moscow" store, specializing in luxury clothing and footwear, just two years later. In 1994, he ventured into the construction industry by initiating the development of the residential "Dom Agalarova" on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street.

Successful Ventures


Currently, "Crocus International" owns retail chains such as "Crocus Moscow," "Skonti," and "Tvoi Dom," as well as the commercial complex "Crocus City." Agalarov is well-known for his ambitious projects, including the construction of a satellite city near Moscow and the promotion of the world-famous restaurant brand, Nobu, in which he is one of the co-owners alongside actor Robert De Niro.

In 2008, Agalarov made his first appearance on the list of the world's wealthiest individuals, ranking 962nd out of 1,062. His son, Emin, works as the commercial director within his father's business empire.

Aras Agalarov obtained his engineering degree in Electronic Computing Machines from the Baku Polytechnic Institute in 1977. He later earned a Candidate of Economic Sciences degree from the Institute of Advanced Training at the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions in 1987.

Agalarov worked as a junior research fellow at the Scientific Center of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions from 1988 to 1990 and served as the founder of the cooperative "Shafran" in 1987. In 2002, he became the president of the non-profit organization "Union of Manufacturers and Importers."

Aside from his business ventures, Agalarov holds various positions and titles. He serves as the Vice President of the Moscow International Business Association, Vice President of the National Association "Opora Rossii," and the Chief Editor of the magazine "Business and Exhibitions."
