Archbishop Anatoliy (Khrutskiy)

Early Life and Education

Archbishop Anatoliy was born on July 28, 1957, in the village of Ladyhy, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukraine. He completed high school in 1975 and served in the military from 1975 to 1977. In 1979, he enrolled in the Leningrad Theological Seminary and later continued his studies at the Leningrad Theological Academy in 1982.

Ordination and Early Ministry

On February 14, 1982, he was ordained a deacon, and the following day, he was ordained a priest by Metropolitan Anthony of Leningrad and Novgorod. After graduation, he was assigned to serve in the Kyiv Eparchy as rector of the Holy Myrrhbearers' Church in Bila Tserkva. He also served as dean of the Bilotserkivskyi and Skvyrskyi districts.

Monastic Life and Episcopal Consecration

In 1992, he was tonsured a monk at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and elevated to the rank of hegumen. In 1993, he became secretary to the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine. On October 28, 1993, he was consecrated Bishop of Rivne and Ostroh at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.

Episcopal Assignments and Elevation to Archbishop

In 1995, he was transferred to become Bishop of Hlukhiv and Konotop. In 1998, the name of the diocese was changed to Konotop and Hlukhiv. On March 30, 1999, he was appointed to the newly created Sarny and Polissia Diocese. On July 28, 2004, he was elevated to the rank of archbishop.

Academic Achievements and Honors

Archbishop Anatoliy holds a doctorate in philosophy from the Uzhhorod Ukrainian Theological Academy of Saints Cyril and Methodius. In addition, he has published a dissertation on the life and work of Professor V. M. Beneshevych.

Present Ministry

Archbishop Anatoliy currently serves as the Bishop of the Sarny and Polissia Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). His feast day is July 16.
