Ariel Ibagaza
Early CareerAriel Ibagaza is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. He began his professional career with Lanús before moving to Spanish club Mallorca in July 1998.
Mallorca Success
With Mallorca, Ibagaza helped the team finish third in the 1998/99 season, securing a spot in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. After scoring 10 goals in the 2000/01 campaign, he was named Mallorca's captain and led the team until his departure for Atlético Madrid in July 2003.
Time at Atlético Madrid
Ibagaza spent three seasons with Atlético Madrid, making 85 appearances in La Liga. He returned to Mallorca in 2006 for another two seasons.
Later Career
In July 2008, Ibagaza joined Villarreal for a fee of €1.5 million, signing a two-year contract. After failing to reach an agreement on a new deal, he left the club in July 2010 and signed a two-year contract with Greek club Olympiacos. He extended his contract with Olympiacos by one year in the summer of 2012.
