Early Life and Career
Arjan Beqaj, a Kosovar Albanian footballer, was born in Albania and began his professional career in 1994 with KS Partizani Tirana. During his tenure with the club, he won the Albanian Cup in 1996-97 and finished third in the Albanian Superliga twice.
OFI Crete and Ionikos FC
In 1997, Beqaj moved to Greece to play for OFI Crete, based in Heraklion, Crete. After six seasons with OFI, where he played over 120 matches and scored one goal, he joined Ionikos FC in 2003. He played for three seasons at Ionikos, making 83 appearances.
Anorthosis Famagusta
In 2006, Beqaj joined Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta. During his time there, he helped the team win the Cypriot Cup in 2006-07 and the Cypriot Super Cup in 2007. Anorthosis also made a historic run in European competition, qualifying for the UEFA Champions League group stage in 2008-09, where Beqaj played all six matches.
After four seasons with Anorthosis, Beqaj moved to Olympiakos Nicosia in 2010, where he made five league appearances. He ended his playing career in 2011 at Ermis Aradippou.
International Career
Beqaj made his international debut for Albania in 1998 and became the starting goalkeeper after Foto Strakosha retired in 2005. He earned 43 caps for his country before retiring from international football in 2011.
Coaching Career
Since September 2011, Beqaj has served as the goalkeeping coach for Anorthosis Famagusta.
