Arkady Semyonovich Gartzman, a renowned Soviet and Ukrainian poet, screenwriter, and actor, was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. His early career took an unexpected turn when he contributed several song lyrics to the animated film "Treasure Island" in the late 1980s. These lyrics, set to music by composer Vladimir Bystryakov, became an instant hit and opened the door for Gartzman's entry into the arts.

In 1990, Gartzman co-founded the humorous newspaper "Blin" in Kyiv, serving as its deputy chief editor from its inception until 1998. His interviews with cultural figures were not only published in "Blin" but also in the popular newspaper "Zerkalo Nedeli." As a songwriter, Gartzman collaborated with composers such as Vladimir Bystryakov, Ekaterina Semyonova, and Alexander Zhilinsky. His lyrics have been performed by renowned pop artists, including Alla Pugacheva, Sofia Rotaru, Nikolai Karachentsov, and Verka Serduchka.

Gartzman's acting career gained momentum with his role as Chief Intendant Vorobyov in the TV series "Liquidation." He also portrayed writer Isaac Babel in the TV series "Utesov."
