Arkady Karapetyan - A Military Figure and Participant in the Karabakh Movement

Arkady Muradovich Karapetyan (Armenian: Արկադի Կարապետյան) was born in 1958 in Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast (NKAO). He is a military figure and one of the participants in the Karabakh movement.

Early Life and Education

In 1975, Karapetyan completed his secondary school education, and in 1980, he graduated from the Yerevan Zootechnical-Veterinary Institute. He then started working in the agriculture department of Nagorno-Karabakh as a senior zootechnician.

Involvement in the National Liberation Movement

Karapetyan actively participated in the national liberation movement in 1975 and became a coordinator of an underground organization in 1987. He played a significant role in organizing the first protests and demonstrations. From 1980 to 1982, he served in the Soviet army, and from 1984 to 1988, he worked in the Komsomol organizations. In 1988, he was elected as a member of the "Karabakh" committee in Armenia and the deputy chairman of the "Krunk" organization.

Membership in ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" and Leadership in Artsakh Liberation Army

From 1989 to 1991, Karapetyan was a member of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" party. In 1991 and 1992, he served as the commander of the Artsakh Liberation Army. In March 1992, he became a member of the self-defense committee under the Council of Ministers of Nagorno-Karabakh and actively participated in the battles for the liberation of Artsakh.

Military Career and Leadership

From 1993 to 1996, Karapetyan held the position of senior intelligence officer and commander of a regiment in the Armed Forces of Armenia. He achieved the rank of Colonel during his military service.

Leadership in the Karabakh War Veterans Union

In 1997, Karapetyan founded the Karabakh War Veterans Union in Nagorno-Karabakh and was elected as its chairman. He has been actively working to support and advocate for the rights and well-being of war veterans.

Arkady Karapetyan's dedication and leadership in the Karabakh movement and his military career have made him a respected figure in the region. He continues to be involved in various activities to support and uplift war veterans in Nagorno-Karabakh.
