Armand Assante, a dark, handsome, and passionate American actor of Irish-Italian descent, was born on October 4, 1949, in New York City. He attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York before making his first screen appearance as a wedding guest in the film "The Lords of Flatbush" (1974) alongside Henry Winkler and Sylvester Stallone. After several appearances in television soap operas, he returned to the big screen with Sylvester Stallone in the film "Paradise Alley" (1978).

Assante played a wealthy Frenchman who seduced Goldie Hawn's character in "Private Benjamin" (1980), portrayed the tough detective Mike Hammer in "I, the Jury" (1982), and was magnificent as Napoleon in the series "Napoleon and Josephine: A Love Story" (1987). In the 1990s, Assante gained momentum and appeared in stronger roles such as the role of a drug lord in Sidney Lumet's film "Q&A" (1990). He created a sensational duo with Antonio Banderas in "The Mambo Kings" and was very impressive in the drama "Hoffa" (1992). Assante once again appeared on screen with Sylvester Stallone in the futuristic comic book adaptation "Judge Dredd" (1995), starred alongside Demi Moore in "Striptease" (1996), and brilliantly played the lead role in Andrei Konchalovsky's acclaimed film "The Odyssey".
