Early Life and FamilyArmand Duplantis was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, USA, on November 10, 1999. His father, Greg, was a former pole vaulter of Cajun descent, while his mother, Helena, was a Swedish heptathlete. Arman has two older brothers, Andreas and Antoine, and a younger sister, Johanna.
International Debut and Junior Successes
Duplantis made his international debut in 2015 as the winner of the World Youth Championships. In 2016, he earned a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships. In early 2017, he set the world junior indoor pole vault record at 5.82 meters.
Later that year, Duplantis broke the Swedish outdoor record with a jump of 5.90 meters, which also set a new junior world record at the time. He went on to win the European Junior Championships and finished 9th at the World Championships in London.
Senior Career and World Records
In 2018, Duplantis continued to impress by breaking his own junior world indoor record with a jump of 5.83 meters. In August, he won the European Championships with a height of 6.05 meters, becoming the first Swedish gold medalist in the pole vault since 1950.
On February 8, 2020, Duplantis set a new indoor world record with a jump of 6.17 meters at an event in Torun, Poland. A week later, he surpassed that record with a jump of 6.18 meters at the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix.

In 2020, Duplantis solidified his dominance by winning the Olympic gold medal with a jump of 6.02 meters. Later in the year, he set a new outdoor world record with a height of 6.15 meters at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Rome.
