Her breakout year was 2016, when she secured three medals: bronze at the World Indoor Championships, gold at the European Championships, and gold at the Olympic Games in Rio.

World and European Champion

In 2017, Stefanidi's dominance continued with victories at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade and the World Championships in London. Her exceptional season culminated in her being crowned Female World Athlete of the Year.
