Biography of Armen Egiazaryan
Armen Benjaminovich Egiazaryan (Armenian: Հարությամբ Արմեն Բենիամինի Եղիազարյան) was born on November 14, 1951, in Yerevan, Armenia. He is an Armenian statesman and has held various government positions throughout his career.
Education and Early Career
From 1968 to 1973, Egiazaryan attended Yerevan State University, where he studied engineering and economics. After completing his undergraduate studies, he pursued a postgraduate degree at the Central Economic and Mathematical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow from 1974 to 1977. He successfully defended his dissertation and earned a candidate of economic sciences degree.
After his studies, Egiazaryan worked as an assistant at the Yerevan Institute of National Economy from 1977 to 1984. He later became an assistant at Yerevan State University from 1984 to 1990.
Government Positions
In 1990, Egiazaryan was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Government Commission on Economic Reforms in Armenia. He held this position until 1992 when he became the head of the same commission's department.
From 1993 to 1995, Egiazaryan served as the Minister of Economy of Armenia. During his tenure, he focused on implementing economic reforms to improve the country's financial stability and growth.
After his ministerial position, Egiazaryan became a member of the Armenian Parliament from 1995 to 1999. He chaired the Permanent Commission on Finance, Credit, Budget, and Economic Affairs and was also a member of the "AOÐ" party.
From 1999 to 2003, Egiazaryan served as the Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia. He played a crucial role in promoting the development of the banking sector in the country.
Later Career
In 2003, Egiazaryan became an advisor to the Prime Minister of Armenia, providing his expertise and guidance on economic matters.
Since 2006, he has been the head of the Economic Division at the Armenian-European Center for Economic Policy and Legal Consultations, where he continues to contribute to the development and implementation of economic policies in Armenia.
