Biography of Arnis Licitis
Arnis Licitis was born on January 8th in Riga. He graduated from the Theatre Faculty of the Latvian State Conservatory named after J. Vitol in 1970, after which he worked at the Uptis Theatre (now the National Theatre) and then at the Valmiera Theatre. In 1981, Licitis was accepted into the troupe of the Riga Youth Theatre, where he performed for 15 years. Since 1996, Arnis Licitis has been one of the leading actors at the Riga Russian Drama Theatre. During these years, he has played roles in productions such as "Witness for the Prosecution" (Hern), "Boomerang" (John), "Don't Leave Your Loved Ones" (Nikulin), "Artists" (Donner), "Carrie" (Ems), "Prodigal Son" (Inkis), and "The Dybbuk" (Nison). Among his current repertoire are roles like The Stranger in "Chestnut", The Italian Show Star in "Carnival Show", and Pavel Andreevich Blokhin in "Coda".
Actor Career and Filmography
Arnis Licitis started his film career in 1965, playing his first role in the historical-revolutionary film "The Conspiracy of Envoys." However, he gained widespread recognition in the mid-70s when he portrayed the main character, artist Allan York, investigating a murder in the detective thriller "The Favorite" (based on the novel by Dick Francis). In the 80s, Licitis appeared in numerous adventure and fantasy films, such as "Hard to Be a God," "A Solo Voyage," "The Musketeers Twenty Years After," "Mercedes Gets Away from the Chase," and "Millions of Ferfaks." Many viewers remember him for his role as Villefort in Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich's film "The Prisoner of the If Castle." Licitis also showcased his talent in dramatic roles, such as in Arunas Zebriunas' film "The Rich, the Poor..."
