Kazakhstan
In 2006, Pijpers made a significant move to Kazakhstan. He spent several years as head coach of the Kazakhstan national football team, guiding them to improved performance. He also simultaneously took over as the head of FC Astana, leading the club to victory in the championship.
Contract and Dismissal
In 2007, Pijpers signed a two-year contract with the Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF). However, in September 2008, the KFF dismissed Pijpers and his entire coaching staff due to unsatisfactory results with the Kazakhstan national team's performance in the qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
