Early Career and Move to the Netherlands
At an early age, Traustason traveled to the Netherlands with his cousin, Pétur Pétursson, to join the youth academy of SC Heerenveen. His talent and determination quickly shone through, and he made his Eredivisie debut on February 16, 2008, against Heracles Almelo.
Breakthrough at Heerenveen
In the 2008/2009 season, under the guidance of coach Trond Sollied, Traustason established himself as a regular in the Heerenveen starting lineup. Playing primarily as a left midfielder, he scored 5 goals, provided an assist, and helped the team win the KNVB Cup.
Challenges and Move to Esbjerg
