Biography of Arran Fernandez
Arran Fernandez, born in June 1995, is an English prodigy who broke the age record for obtaining the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) - a British qualification usually awarded to 16-year-olds. From the age of 5, Arran was homeschooled by his father, Dr. Neil Fernandez. In 2001, Fernandez passed his first GCSE in mathematics, and in 2003, he retook the exam, becoming the youngest person to achieve the highest grade of A*.

Admission to Cambridge University
In September 2010, Fernandez was offered a place at Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge. According to university representatives, Arran is the youngest person to ever be admitted since William Pitt the Younger, who became a student at the age of 14 in 1773. At the age of 15 years and 3 months, Fernandez was set to attend his first lecture at Cambridge.

Academic Achievements and Interests
Apart from excelling in mathematics, Arran has made significant contributions to the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS) - a database for number theory researchers. He has published several of his own series since 2000. However, Arran emphasizes that he is more excited about the prospect of studying at Cambridge than breaking age records. He believes that true science focuses on results rather than age.
In addition to mathematics, Arran has a keen interest in English literature, particularly the works of William Shakespeare. He has even published a book on Shakespeare's works. Arran also finds time to observe birds. However, his main focus will be on mathematics, as the Cambridge Bachelor of Arts degree (also known as 'tripos') is renowned as one of the most challenging exams in the world.
Future Research
It is likely that Fernandez will pursue research on the Riemann hypothesis, which investigates the distribution of prime numbers on the complex number plane. This hypothesis is one of the most significant unsolved problems in mathematics today.
Arran will reside in a rented apartment in Cambridge with his father, while his mother, Hilde Fernandez, will remain at home in Surrey.
