The Youngest Mother in Medical History
Early LifeLina Medina was born in 1933 in Ticrapo, Peru. In 1939, when she was just five years old, her parents, Tiburelo Medina and Victoria Losea, took her to the hospital because of her swollen belly. Doctors initially believed it to be a tumor, but they soon discovered that Lina, at five years and seven months old, was pregnant. The doctors were shocked and even took Lina to Lima for further examination, but the pregnancy was confirmed.

The Birth of Her Son
On May 14, 1939, Lina Medina gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Gerardo. Due to her young age and underdeveloped pelvis, Lina underwent a cesarean section. Gerardo weighed 2.7 kg at birth and was named after the doctor who delivered him. The news of Lina's pregnancy spread worldwide, as the world had never seen such a young mother before.

The Mystery Surrounding Her Pregnancy
The circumstances of how Lina became pregnant and who the father of her child was were never revealed to the public. Lina herself never disclosed any names. Her father was briefly detained as a suspect, but he was released due to lack of evidence. The case of Lina's pregnancy, which could only be classified as rape and child abuse, went unpunished. There were rumors in the newspapers about orgies and festivities in rural areas, similar to the one where Lina's family lived, and it was speculated that Lina became a victim of one of these orgies at the age of five.
Life After the Birth
As Gerardo grew up, he was raised as Lina's brother and only learned the truth about his biological mother when he was ten years old. Lina later worked at the clinic of Dr. Gerardo Lozada, who delivered her son and continued to provide care for her. He ensured she received an education and helped arrange for her son to attend school. Lina married Raúl Jurado, and they had another son in 1972.
Life in Later Years
Lina Medina has always guarded the secret of the conception of her first son. She has never interacted with journalists, who have shown a persistent interest in her life, and has always refused to give any interviews. In 2002, Lina and her husband were living in a poor neighborhood in Lima known as Chicago Chico.
Documented Evidence
There are two officially documented photographs of five-year-old Lina. One shows her naked in profile, officially confirming her pregnancy and demonstrating her physical development at the time. The other photograph shows her son, who is almost a year old, sitting in a stroller next to a well-dressed Lina, standing alongside her doctor.
Tragic Loss
Gerardo grew up to be a healthy young man but tragically passed away at the age of 40 from bone marrow disease.
