Early Life and Education

Artur Antoyan, an Armenian and Ukrainian writer, was born into a military family in Siberia. He grew up in Hungary and Ukraine and graduated from Uzhhorod National University with a degree in English language and world literature. He also studied academic vocals at Uzhhorod Music College named after D.E. Zador.

Media Career

Antoyan began his media career in 2004 as a radio host on "Versia-FM". From 2008 to 2010, he hosted morning shows on the TV channel "Tisa-1" in Uzhgorod. Subsequently, from 2010 to 2014, he worked as a journalist and editor on television in Ostankino. He also appeared in episodic roles in TV series and projects. In 2015-2017, he worked in the press department of the US Embassy in Russia.

Writing Career

Antoyan wrote his first poem at the age of eight. In 2001, he co-authored a poetry collection entitled "My Angel" with poetess Tatiana Gogerchak. From 2014 to 2016, he composed lyrics for Ukrainian singer Jamala's songs, including "My Lover," "Thank You," "Perfect Man," "Sister's Lullaby," and "Obeščanie." The latter became the soundtrack for the film "My Grandmother Fanny Kaplan."

In 2016, Antoyan wrote the English lyrics for the song "1944" based on Jamala's initial Ukrainian lines and idea. The song won Ukraine the Eurovision Song Contest that year. From 2019 to 2020, he penned the dystopian novel "TÜK," which is set in a nation called Empire where a heart pandemic rages and heartbeats are considered a dangerous disease and a crime. The novel was published by the publishing house "Vydavnytstvo 21" in May 2022.
